Efforts are focused on energy harvesting and energy conversion using photovoltaic and thermophotovoltaic approaches. Use of compound semiconductor devices for high-efficiency low-temperature thermophotovoltaics for terrestrial and space power applications are being explored, including optimization of devices for solar and gray-body thermal emitter sources.
